As those of you who know me personally or follow my career in the testing industry know, leaving Barclays and the Global Test Center was a very difficult decision for me. Implementing context driven testing principles at that scale in a 300 year old investment bank, was a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow, make mistakes and spend time with some of the best testers on the planet.
Further to my leaving Barclays, I am pleased to announce that I have joined the technology consulting firm, Doran Jones as a Managing Director and their Chief Operating Officer. Doran Jones specialises in helping companies increase value, innovate, and simplify their technology investments. Their philosophy is a perfect match with my experience in skilled testing and its ability to transform an organisations approach to software quality.
In this role I will be developing the software testing practice and operations while working with two people, Matt Doran (CEO and Founder) and April Rathe (CTO), whos passion for collaboration and experience make this a world-class team. I am extremely excited to be building our business based on context driven testing principles and partnering with firms to continue my drive to solve organizational problems through better software testing.
Doran Jones Software Testing…
I am also pleased to announce that in addition to myself, Paul Holland will be joining Doran Jones as Managing Consultant and Head of the Testing Practice. Paul has a wealth of experience as a test manager, consultant, conference facilitator, trainer, and most recently as principle STEP instructor for Per Scholas.
Paul and I share the same pragmatic approach to developing teams and are both passionate about coaching and empowering testers. We feel our experience combined with our close collaboration with James Bach and Michael Bolton through their Rapid Software Testing methods, will be a powerful force for change for our clients and the testing industry.
Whether through delivering teams, training, coaching or advisory services, Doran Jones is a formidable team that I am honored to be joining. I will be continuing my activism in the testing industry through the AST, blogging, and speaking at conferences (TestBash, QAI Quest, Lets Test Oz), as well as working closely with my friends at Per Scholas to expand the STEP initiative, so thanks again for your continued support, and let’s get testing!
