Rock Bottom?

It’s getting wild out there, folks! I thought we had some way to go before the AI LinkedIn lunatics completely lost the plot, but I read a post today that left me feeling like John Oliver trying to describe the political climate, “Do you see that? Way up there? Way up there above the clouds? That’s ROCK BOTTOM! And we are currently way down here…”

I’m not going to dignify the click-bait by linking and drive traffic to it, but needless to say, the amount of unverified claims, (let alone the unverifiable ones) read like ChatGPT took a shot of hopium before ingesting a WinRunner user manual when being prompted with, “what would happen to software testing if magic was real?”

I had always suspected that everyone in technology “yearned” to get rid of testers, but we now have written proof we’ve finally been “obsoleted”. As I said before, “it is apparent now more than ever in my 20+ years of working in testing that our business has been completely highjacked by people who have never had to answer for or LIVE with the consequences of their bad quality decisions.”

No one who has actually tested software or complex systems would make statements like this. No one.

Experience has taught us that you’ll never go broke underestimating the amount of money people are willing to throw down the testing wish hole, but please, use some critical thinking before believing or buying this stuff. Even the most casual of research would render these “vague claims” unverifiable and “simplistic”, and the stakes these days are just too damn high.
